300 MILE CHALLENGE
Rob Bright from Isleworth, Hounslow is taking on a 300-mile challenge to raise funds for 2 charities.
Starlight Children’s Foundation is a national charity that grants wishes for seriously ill children. It provides year-round children’s hospital entertainment programme in over 300 hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. Second is ACROSS, a national charity which provides holidays and pilgrimages to Lourdes for the sick and disabled with 24 hour care.
When, Where, How?
#300MilesToGo Challenge starts on Wednesday 24th May.
Rob aims to run 150 miles following the Thames Path, cycle 149 miles from Henley-on-Thames to Gravesend and then to The Mall. After making a quick pit stop at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for a photo. Then to top it all off, run “The most famous mile in the world” to complete the most gruelling challenge of his life and conquer #300MilesToGo.
Rob, 25, who works for Heston Blumenthal, is no stranger to clocking up the miles and has run eight marathons. Rob, never sporty at school, now trains seven days a week to ensure he’s in the best shape possible to complete his ‘ultra duathlon’.
“A ship in a harbour is safe, but that’s not what the ship was built for. Go sailing.”
Rob says “London Marathon, 2012 I went sailing and I haven’t been back to the shore since. This quote has kept me going through the ups and downs of planning and participating in fundraising challenges and it has changed the way I live my life.”
Rob was moved to support Starlight after reading about the wish they granted to a little boy called Josh. He explains, “Josh’s story really touched me and it made me realise why I do challenges; to help worthwhile charities like Starlight make life better for seriously ill children and their families. It makes all the training worthwhile and keeps me motivated.”
For the past 10 years Rob has been supporting and travelling with ACROSS. He’s helped to make it possible for others to travel who would otherwise miss out on a life changing experience and ultimately helping to “make the impossible possible.”
He hopes to raise £20,000 which will be split equally between Starlight and ACROSS.
From all at Team EVOSSI – Best of Luck Rob – Enjoy The Journey!
